Itinerary of the tour of the historic center of Florence
FLORENCE TOUR ITINERARY
This guided tour starts from Piazza della Repubblica, once the center of ancient Florence in Roman times.
We move on foot and reach Piazza del Duomo in a few minutes. Here we stop to admire the complex of SanTa Maria del Fiore, then the cathedral, the Baptistery of San Giovanni with its splendid bronze doors, Giotto's bell tower and of course Filippo Brunelleschi's dome. The tour then moves to Piazza della Signoria to admire Palazzo Vecchio, medieval residence and symbol of the Medici government and power, the Palazzo degli Uffizi, seat of the homonymous museum and the Loggia dei Lanzi, a loggia open to the square where splendid sculptures are exhibited from the Renaissance period. The guided tour then proceeds to the Arno River for a walk on the iconic Ponte Vecchio. If there is still time, we can go further until we reach Piazza Pitti where the tour ends in front of the imposing façade of Palazzo Pitti, the most recent and grandiose Medici residence in Florence.
